Sustainable and innovative. Value the past and embrace the future.

Every time you choose to spend your holiday with us at the Masl, our hearts overflow with happiness. We are incredibly proud to be your hosts. In addition to your well-being, there is something that has truly and genuinely been close to our hearts for generations: our environment. Because we humans don’t control nature. We are a part of it. We’ve been practising sustainable hospitality and thinking about the welfare of future generations for decades. This is why we have prepared a breakdown of the ways in which we’re making a positive impact on creating a future that is both liveable and loveable. Any questions? Happy to help. The power of the elements. Our hydroelectric power plant and electricity from solar energy.

What our great-grandfather came up with over 80 years ago was truly ahead of its time. Back in 1941, he and like-minded individuals from the village repurposed an antiquated grain mill into a hydroelectric power station. With each passing decade, it has been modernised to meet the highest technological standards. It still powers the Masl with carbon-neutral electricity to this day. Since autumn 2022, we have been using solar power to charge your e-cars. There is a 180 kWh photovoltaic system set up on the roof of our farmhouse. Want to know more? Then come join us on our “journey back in time”. Once a week, we’re happy to give you a behind-the-scenes look at our farm’s hydroelectric power plant.

Nature’s hidden gems. Celebrating the goodness of local produce.

When it comes to talking about our water, we’re completely in our element. The water from the Fundres Mountains not only fuels our hydroelectric power plant but also flows with the highest purity from every tap at the Masl. Don’t be shy, take a sip. Our flowers and green spaces are also doing well. We use water from our own source to quench their thirst. The Masl has been connected to the Valles district heating station since 1997. It is powered by renewable resources from our forests and means you stay warm and comfortable even on the chilliest winter days. Our kitchen and furnishings are designed with a focus on short transportation distances and a natural approach to reflect our values. Look around and you’ll discover stunning woodwork throughout the Masl, meticulously crafted by local artisans for your enjoyment.

Award-winning! A pledge to protect nature and people.

Something we are especially proud of: South Tyrol Tourism has awarded us the Level 3 Sustainability Seal. This means that we meet the highest quality standards of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) and are committed to living our values. It’s not just about safeguarding natural landscapes and practising responsible resource management, but also extends to treating our team members with the utmost respect. Because ultimately, it is their talents and unwavering commitment that make the Masl what it is. That’s why we exceed the industry norms when it comes to providing benefits for our team. If we have sparked your interest and you’d like to become part of the Masl family, please come this way.
