You start at Malga Fane. From there you hike through the slate gully on Trail 17 past the tumultuous waterfalls of the Valles stream and up to the Bressanone chalet/Labiseben Alm crossroads. Take the Labiseben Alm trail and from there take Trail 18 and you will arrive at Lago Selvaggio across open alpine pasture. In the large, deep blue mountain lake (2,532 m) the mountains are strikingly reflected. Suitable mountain clothing, stout boots and sun protection are necessary for this hike.
Total walking time approx. 5 hours
There is the opportunity for efficient walkers to scale the highest summit around Valles, the Picco della Croce (3,132 m) (walking time 1.5 hours from Lago Selvaggio). You need to be sure-footed with a good head for heights. You descend over a small glacier, the Rauhtaljoch to the Bressanone chalet, where you can fortify yourself. From there you return to the point of departure, the Malga Fane.
